I wanted to draw a 'cute' Star Wars picture - but in a realistic style (not cartoon or super-deformed) - so I thought it would be cool to imagine all of the small characters in Star Wars hanging out in their own 'gang'.

This piece was drawn freehand and colored with water color pencils - later I re-colored it with Photoshop. Hope you like!

I drew this originally with pencil and paper - and that was in 1997! (long before I scanned it in and added the crazy background) - so I hadn't even heard of pit droids then. If I did an updated version I'd have to put them in though

Thanks for the comment on this - and sorry for the slow reply. I know what you mean about drawing R2 - he can be tricky. I remember the first time I painted him was on a big piece of paper (about 60cm x 100cm) - using some photoreference and I found that a great way to 'learn' how he looks. It's always daunting drawing a new, or complex, character - but that makes it all the more rewarding to get it right. :)

Ya right now school work is really getting in the way and I can't find the time to draw so more pictures. But i'm working on my own mandalorian armor design for my work shop class. So it'll be nice to have my own self-made armor!
