I had an idea that Jabba's Rancor would sometimes go for an evening stroll around Tatooine - and on this occasion he found an AT-AT to play with. (Perhaps the AT-AT was there as part of the deployment sent to look for the two droids at the start of 'A New Hope'?)

When I originally envisaged this piece I thought I would draw it from a low angle - looking up at the Rancor climbing up the AT-AT's leg. But I decided that changing the angle so that the viewer can see the Imperial troops would be a good idea to add some more drama and humour. I'm glad I made the change - although it meant a lot more work drawing the characters - as well as trying to imagine what the roof of an AT-AT might look like if it was scrunched up!?

The first driver is so terrified he's about to jump straight off the top of the AT-AT to avoid being eaten - saying "I'm outta here!". The other driver's saying "Hold up - wait for me" - while the Commander won't abandon his post and is angrily shouting at the Rancor: "You there, stop that!"

This is an entirely original depiction of George Lucas's characters - drawn in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. I put a huge amount of effort into this - and I hope that comes across even in this low-res version (the original is 600dpi).

! never played it - so didn't know about that. I loved Dark Forces and played Jedi Knight - but after that went on to console games like Battlefront. Jedi Academy passed me by :lol:

In the Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption Expansion, Rancors are effective against AT-AT; if they can get into close contact without bumping into a whole volley of AT-AT fire.

I didnt know that! Sounds like i was thinking along the same lines though - rancors would be excellent and cheap weapons - just dont get in their way!
